Abstract

In 1970 the first conference related to the theme and interpretation of interdisciplinarity was held in Nice. Fifty-three years after the concept appeared, we still wonder how this term can be put into practice. Since that time, a continuous and constant search has begun to understand and concretize this process.
Through different nuances of the concept, from the disciplinary to the transdisciplinary via the multidisciplinary, this article aims to restore to the school the place it deserves in this social horizon that yearns for interdisciplinarity without ever fully achieving it. Thus, interdisciplinarity is also, if not primarily, an educational issue. Starting with the creation of a mindset that is open to an interdisciplinary dialogical culture, appropriate responses for the future and the formation of critical thoughts suitable for today's society can be built. From the origins on the issues related to interdisciplinarity, through the words found in the National Directions, the practicality of a school that can educate for interdisciplinarity as a mirror of society will be exposed.
