In this paper I propose a comparison between two contemporary philosophers who both, from different perspectives, have addressed the theme of emotions with respect to the moral constitution of the human person. They are Max Scheler and Martha Nussbaum. My aim is to show how their two perspectives can support each other, balancing their respective extremes, in order to provide an anthropologically founded account of the value of affectivity for human life. Finally, I try to develop some ideas for integrating this aspect into school education, focusing on educational practices and on the role of the teacher as a model.
