The model of the school-business focused on projects, compliance, school-work alternation, with the invasion of digital technology and the bureaucratisation of the profession has, in fact, distorted the institution of school, transforming it from a place of personal development into a place devoted to the interests of the market and large industrial groups. This has resulted in profound unease and a profound identity crisis among the teaching profession, manifested through a broad debate on these issues that has raged for years, especially in recent years. With María Zambrano, we reflect on what should be the essence of school work, freeing it from all the superstructures that have weighed it down and distorted it over the years.
