Recently, the new education plans of various school levels are progressively shifting their focus towards the concept of competence, in response to the changes of a society that increasingly attributes importance to knowledge. The knowledge of specific cultural tools becomes fundamental for individual growth, in relation to the abilities of planning and self-determination. This requires a revision of disciplinary contents, in order to overcome the traditional separation between disciplines and favor the unity of knowledge and understanding of reality in its entirety. The inclusion of interdisciplinary didactic paths within music education lessons, supported by a teaching method that allows the student to be the protagonist of their own educational process, improves the quality of the learning and understanding experience, as well as the motivation of students towards past musical expressions and their multiple potentials and functions.
