The Republic resonates silently: the Republic is everything, it is word, history, imagination, it is the spirit of the Nation, it is the pride of an longlasting defended identity, which lives, animates and inspires the heirs of the great revolution. The Republic is the topic that silently inspires every law and innovation. The following contribution is a summary presentation of the French school system (much more could be written): the main references come by professors from the French universities of Cergy-Pontoise and Paris 8, from web platforms, from author’s research. In all the texts supporting this article, the commitment of the various legislators is clear: the French education system has the sad privilege of being frequented by bad students, those whose social environment of origin exerts a great influence on their educational path. In France, education inequalities are among the highest of all the developed countries. Good students attend classes that bring together students of average level, while weak students are schooled with others in difficulty. In this context, for the school of the Republic, it is no longer a question of excellence and effort, but of survival.
